The Little Explorers' Journal

They thought they had won a trip of a lifetime. Now, they’re fighting for their lives on a deadly mission. Will you be brave enough to join them?

The Mission
Archie’s life is uneventful. He lives in a quiet suburb in Sydney, rides his bike to high school every morning, and plays soccer on Saturdays. That is, until he and four of his schoolmates win a competition and are suddenly thrust onto a dangerous mission to retrieve a stolen artefact, a precious instrument belonging to the Makassar tribe.
From crocodile-infested swamps and an abandoned mine in the Australian desert to a trap room in a famous art gallery, the five children face life-threatening challenges. They’ll have to rely on their courage, survival instincts and ability to solve cryptic puzzles in order to complete their mission.
Time is running out.
Will Archie and his friends manage to survive and recover the sacred object before it disappears forever?

The Characters

“This is your captain speaking—okay, not really, but I do have the walkie-talkie!
Look, I won’t lie; this mission could go very wrong. But if we stick together, we’ll find the stolen suling and hopefully make it out alive!”

''Of course we will! I’m on the team, remember? Attacked by prehistoric animals? Lost in the desert? Trapped underground? Chased by the bad guys on a remote road at night? No big deal—I’ve got the muscles to get us out of trouble. No one gets left behind on my watch!''

“Yeah, yeah, muscles are great—but can they hack a security system? Didn’t think so. If a locked door or a password stands between us and the mission, I’ll get us through. But hey, we make a pretty good team. Right, Alex?’’

“Oh, totally! I might not be able to hack anything, but when it comes to knowing which animals you definitely don’t want to mess with, that’s my thing. I love animals... just, uh, some of them are better on TV. Like, the places we’re going? Full of deadly snakes, crocodiles, and dingoes. Honestly, I hope we don’t meet any of them in real life!”

And don’t worry, no matter how crazy things get, I’ll make sure we look good doing it! Someone’s gotta keep the team stylish and sane—plus, this adventure is gonna look amazing on my blog!

Rosa, Mum of 3
My son is 11 and loves adventure books. Christelle published one of her amazing stories in a Facebook group and offered my son the chance to review the book before everyone else and share his feedback. Let me tell you, he loved the story! He finished the book a single weekend. He loved the action, the plot and how Max ends up in a swamp full of crocodiles. I read it, too, and I was really surprised by how well written it was. Great read for kids and adults who love a good action-packed adventure!

Debbie, Mum of two
My kids love adventure stories so when I came across Christelle's post and how she was looking for early readers to review her upcoming book, I signed up. As a homeschooling mum I'm always after materials and I find the Stolen Suling to be a great way to teach my kids about Australia's culture and geography and even history in a fun way. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to introduce their kids to new cultures without boring them!

Ben, Dad of 2
Christelle is a talented writer no doubt. My daughter enjoyed the action, the adventure, how the kids have to retrieve a precious peace of history and her favourite character was Violet. We're looking forward to reading book 2!
